Rear Control Arms

Post by Fiat1980spyder »

The stock differential on a 1980 fiat spider 124 has a slight offset is the left or right control arm off set in anyway? I was looking at a fiat i wanted to buy but seems like something was touched in the rear the parking brake cable seems very close to the tire. Does anyone have any measurements for the control arm mount and chassis.

The long and short arms are not offset. there is a different in the long arms from left to right and that is the e-brake cable bracket. there is a difference in the early to late panhard rods. If you have the wrong one, it could make the axle sit off center.

The parking brake cable can be routed many different ways, it's possible for it to come close to the tire if it is routed poorly. If they used a longer cable from a sedan then it could be all over the place :-)
