Again, why do you care what I think? I'm not a judge. I lean towards preserving the cars, not modifying them to the point that they cannot be recovered. I also try to influence people who want to enjoy the cars to make modifications that improve the reliability of the car first.

I do not have the foggiest clue why this is so hard to understand.

I'm so surprise that you don't go save all the fiats that are being disassembled, and by the way,I like giving you shit
I have 3 fiats and I will do what I damn we'll please with them :) but you have a very good point and I just may rethink what I am doing, not because of you but I would not want a hood with 2 bumps, so we will see what MY mechanic says when he see the car

I'm with Brad on this one. I too am a bit of a "purist" and want to keep my car as close to the way it rolled out of the factory as I reasonably can. Others - including you Jim - can do what ever the hell they want with their cars. It's your money and if you like FrankenFiats, fill your boots.

Has anyone got space for a Frankenfiat museum? As a group we could pool together to purchase the aforementioned abominations/cynosures, it would mean that:

- those that like them get to have somewhere to stand and gaze on their malformed lines; and

- those that hate them get to have them off of the public highway (and also know that those that like them are cooped up in rapt admiration)

:)

Be sure and save enough money to additionally buy all those abandoned Spider projects that started off trying to outperform a modern car. :P

Honestly - some days I'd really love to "give it all up" and spend my entire time tinkering and resurrecting Spiders back to their former glory. Obviously with some help from my friends :)

When a week consists of 8+ segments in the air, then it's an entire week of "those days".

I'm with you Brad.

What a mess the "Spider" in question is. I just don't get the motivation behind doing something like that and then thinking how great it is. I guess to each his own, but I like and enjoy my nearly stock 79 Spider. Its dependable, it looks great and it gets a lot of compliments as is. I think Fiat got it pretty well right, and while there are things I would like to see changed or modified, they are indeed little things, not like changing engines! I to have seen my fair share of mutilated Spiders and I agree, "poor cars".

And since it was brought up, change the car in the forum banner for something more stock looking, which better represents what the Spider looked like and was originally envisioned by the designers at Fiat...
