Vicks auto

Post by fiat218 »

My fiat buddy here has bought all his parts from Vicks auto
They have no customer service, they just don't give a shit, he makes his order, half the stuff comes, they miss shipping parts,so now he pays more shipping cost then he should have, just from listening to him about that, and the great experience I have had from two venders in this forum that I have purchase my parts from them thru my rebuild, there no way I would order from Vicks again, just my opinion
I think venders should suggest parts that you may need with the parts you order , for instance gaskets, I am sure we all don't know if the gaskets come with water pumps, etc, or do we Order it separate , just a example ,

If I am doomed for this post then I guess I am doomed :)

Jim, I completely understand your frustrations. I too have had some issues with VAS in the past that are well documented. Sometimes things happen however, when they happen continiously or are only addressed when more people are aware or after the fact it raises some concerns. I stick with what works and those who have provided the level of service that I would provide to my customers etc.

I feel that this forum allows us all to express ourselves and if anyone gets out of line the great people of the forum will let them know. You shouldn't be doomed for sharing an opinion or personal experience. If that was the case then we would all be doomed.

I think consistency is a key measure for a vendor. VAS has worked with me when issues have come up. I do think they are trying to continually improve. With that said, I have not had any issues with AR or Mark.

Seem my posts in here with regards to how VAS treated me with the differential I bought thru them and you will understand why I will not do business with them in the future.
By the way the parts I bought from AR to solve my problem are still running great.

I've purchased from Vick's many times. I have only had one issue and that was regarding a rebuilt part that was described as "undamaged", yet what I received had cracks welded up in it. I don't call that undamaged. They were willing to exchange it if I paid shipping. Given it was described wrongly, I didn't like that.

All of the other times, I've had very good service and products from Vicks. Thanks for the info...it is good to know.

If you buy fiat parts over a long time, you are bound to have some problems. Can't think of a parts supplier that I haven't had a problem with, but that's how it goes. Vicks sent wrong part, IAP produced an expensive part that was totally illogical to use, service problem with Mark, Autoricami forgot to includes a part in the order, no problem with Fiatplus so far..., some crap on Ebay. But what do you want?
Over time everyone goofs a little. I find it hard to believe a parts supplier does not care, not if they want to stay in business. Word travels fast in this small community. But there are people who hold grudges for one supplier that they give a pass to others.

I am sorry if you read it that way. It was not about you, I have heard stories of people who wouldn't use a vender for a small reason yet never complain about a their preferred vender screw up. To each his own.

Not wanting to bash a vendor but I have had more problems with the previous mentioned than any of the others combined. Sometimes you have to go to the other to get what you need. The last time I ordered from them I had no problems. I think that was a first. Maybe it's just the staff they keep. Who knows????

It's not the staff, when the OWNER tells you to go buy parts somewhere else simply because you ask for an exchange on a part that plainly went bad.
Add to that, he (the owner of VAS) implies in the same conversation that I don't know what I'm doing as a mechanic and that's all I need for inspiration to take ALL my business elsewhere.
Please keep in mind, at NO time did I insult or speak to anyone at VAS in a pissed off or degrading, unprofessional fashion. I was on the crappy end of this stick and trying the nice approach to get my Spider back on the road.
Read this entire post and maybe you will understand my position better.

I ordered a radiator fan from Vick's and could not figure out how to install it so I called them.
I don't remember who I talked to but the guy explained that I should take the little feet that came with it.... I told him there was no hardware with it. He said he personally puts it in every box and that was it for him.
Not every transaction with all the other vendors I did business with went smooth but they always apologized and tried to fix things even when it was not 100% sure who's fault it was.
Will I order from Vick's again? The answer is yes, but only if nobody else has what I need.

Here is a good one, my friends buys a new tranny from Vicks , they were sending the lighten fly wheel in the same package,
It was not to be found, so he calls and talks to randy, randy tells him that it was very carefully pack in the same shipment
Now he did not get the fly wheel period, he was going to call them
Now when you buy a new tranny it said it comes, with the inner boot and knob
Where is that he said
He will never order a part from them again after he gets this all settled

If anything the trend in FIAT vendors is when they go bad they stay that way until they are sold. They don't seem to disappear. And Vick Auto, awful as they may be, are mere amateurs in the world of awful compared to the old Linearossa or Caribou. They wrote the book.
