I have 42 psi at the fuel pump. When I spray fuel into the throttle body it still won't start. When I turn it over the next day it sounds like it wants to start but only for 3 or 4 revolutions. The same thing will happen each day, then no matter what I do it won't start.
Any ideas?
I have an 80 124 that has spark but no fuel

if it doesn't fire when you spray fuel into it, you have a different problem than lack of fuel

What is the car's history? Was it a runner and just died? Or, you just acquired it and it hasn't run in a long time? This info will help drive the answer.
Have you grounded a plug wire and checked for spark? You probably have if you Re now testing fu
el pressure. A bad coil can produce a weak, brownish spark but fail to ignite. You may want to pull it and have it tested. It wants to start initially? Maybe flooded by a constant cold start valve. Pinch off that fuel line and see if you can get it to run. Pull a plug......fouled or fuel soaked?

1] pull/clean (replace) the plugs and spin the engine MAKE sure you are getting spark. [bright blue, good thing]
+ if you are getting spark, it will fire with starting fluid direct spray.
+if not, check your cam belt (not likely the issue or you'd prolly have smashing sounds from in the head)
+check for leaks around the intake manifold with start fluid into the gasket areas
Need more info to really help with assessment, but fuel+compression+spark = bang. Something is missing, a chain only breaks at one link. Use a thorough process of elimination.

Need spark.... then need spark at the right time...
If you have a good spark and no start perhaps then I'd be checking the timing. Engine at TDC and the rotor about to contact the #4 pin INSIDE the cap.
If you don't have a spark...why. The wires under the dist. cap are a usual suspect here. They get brittle and break or give intermittent spark.
Get the basics done first.... spark at the right time....fuel delivery and compression... should be good to go after checking all the hose connections are tight.
