brake system help
Hi all. thanks for reading this. So I've been advised that my 1971 brake system has been modified or possibly phased out. What I have on the car does not match what I purchased from Vick Auto. Does anyone have pics or schematic diagrams of the correct or new setup? I have the parts to do my entire brake hydraulic system end to end but I'm confused. Specifically confused by a distribution block that was plumbed into my system but uses a single flare and different threads on the hard lines. Thanks for any help

We really need pics on what you have to be able to tell. The '71 had a distribution block bolted to the inner fender under the master cylinder with an electric switch for the brake malfunction light.

Re: brake system help
Hi Csaba thanks for getting back to me. That distribution block is exactly the issue! I'll try to post some pics. Do you think it can be deleted? I would think that a brake malfunction would be apparent without the need for an idiot light. My trouble is now I own brand new hard lines which all have the double bubble flare on both ends but the distribution block uses a single flare and different threads as we'll. I think I would rather run without the block but don't know which of the three ports on the master go to which wheel. Thanks a lot for your attention to this. Nathan
Re: brake system help
the mc has a front half and back half. The front wheels have side-by-side lines in the mc, the rear brakes have a single line

Re: brake system help
Nathan, the original distribution blocks had the same threads and flares as all the other brake fittings on the car.
Yes, it can be deleted, the later Spiders did not have one, they had a float and switch in the reservoir cap that warned if the brake fluid was too low.

Re: brake system help
That's perfect thanks guys. The switch in the reservoir makes a lot more sense anyway. By the time the switch in that block, which I must assume works on differential pressure, senses anything it's too late. That's what I'll go with.

Re: brake system help
I successfully deleted the sensor block on my 76 and replaced my reservoir with the float type.
