Itsy Bitsy Spider

Post by AndysSpider »

Ok, let’s make it official; I’m an AUTOholic, at least when it comes to vintage stuff in need of rescue. Thus it’s hardly a surprise I just couldn’t say no to this little Fiat Spider 1500 when it appeared for sale on http://www.classicdigest.com. I was sold and so was the spider!

Yep, thought it would be 4uall's car :D
Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Nice plates -eh..mean tags : )

Anyway, it turns out the first owner of the spider, Jussi Lappi-Seppälä was a bit of a celebrity in Finland. In his early years he used to write boys' adventure books much like "the famous five"

Later on he got into politics and became a member of the parliament (conservative coalition party). Which in turn, led him to become the head of the ministry of housing and communications. This caused a bit of a controversy as the architects’' union in Finland was backing Alvar Aalto for the office...as a result members og the union went to boycott the ministry for four years...Imagine that!

It's been a while...Anyway, the Spider is running, amazingly well with those 30+ years old tyres on snow. To see the whole story so far go to part 2 at: http://www.classicdigest.com/readers-st ... s/112/1232
