That is beautiful. Applying the rule that you can have one more car than you have garage slots for it looks like you can have about 9 cars!

I'd love to have a garage like that.

I managed to squeeze the '78 rat racer and my '72 project next to each other in one of the 12' wide stalls. Heather's '82 currently has it's own stall, but will eventually swap spots with my '64 Nova and live in the home garage. That way she can just walk out to the garage and hit the opener button whenever she wants to. Progress has been slow, trying o figure out how to best use the space and cleaning and painting everything before I bring it into the new shop.

I see the paint booth and a hydraulic lift in your future. You have a dream garage! I love it!

Looking good Trey.
Wondering though, would it be possible to double up on a couple of columns and then increase the size of the beam and then take one column out. I know it is easy to say sitting here at the computer with a coffee, but I'm thinking you would be able to put cars in on the diagonal on the side area then. Easier to move cars about?
Any engineers nearby?
Regardless, going to be a great hobby shop.

I'm sure that it could be done, but I'm not too worried about it, if it was just a foot or two longer, I could get three in a row. The only cars stored side by side are future projects and winter storage. That's what happened during planning, if it was just a little longer or wider I could (fill in the blank). I started at 30x30 and it grew to 42x40.

Here's why I am so excited. Here is my old garage. The garage is barely longer than my ChevyII, (the back bumper is touching the garage door) and the entryway protrudes into the garage making it even tighter. I have crap stacked up to and inside of the rafters, (actually a great storage space: doors, trunk lid, gas tank, hood, wheels, etc). The garage looks much worse than normal with cabinets and stuff getting ready to go into the shop. I'm trying to plan where to put everything and not just throw a bunch of stuff in there. I had access to my grandfather's garage for several years, so I kept he overflow there. I lost that about five months ago, so something had to happen. It will be so nice not to have to move a bunch of cars to work on one inside of the garage! There were usually three or four in the way in the driveway, plus the one already inside of the garage.

I moved to this house because my last had only a one car garage and no room for expansion. I dont know what to do with all of this space, I can't imagine how much trouble I could get into with 5000 SQ FT! I could hide cars from my wife! Now I've got just over an acre and room to grow. Good luck with your's Beek!

It was a nice sunny day to work organizing the shop today. It's really nice being able to open the back roll up door to get some AM sun.

I also got the Wifey area done, so I can coax her out to visit.

Hopefully the FIATs won't learn any bad habits from my Dad's B.

Scored free stuff!

Post by htchevyii »

Check out all of the heavy duty made in the USA metal cabinets, shelves, carts and desk that I got for free! No way I could afford this quality of new stuff. That desk must weigh 300 lbs. Everything except the workbench and MDF cabinet was free. The small size file cabinets are a neat size, I can put lots of Fiat parts inside. It's a mess now, but it should help to organize my new metal shop.
