Jim,

Mine was adhesive backed. If I were you I'd use that 3M spray on stuff they use for headliners and so forth.

Don't be shy with the insulation on the tunnel, that's were most of the heat comes from. I unscrewed that plate on top of the shifter mechanism and put the insulation underneith it with the foil facing down towards the trans as well as on the top.

I wouldn't glue it except maybe to tack it in a couple of spots. If you ever get water in it, top left down in the rain or flood, you can remove it to dry or replace and get the water out.

Frequently, there are electrical connectors under carpeting and if not dried will cause electrical problems.

Capt. John taught me a great tip - glue the heat/sound pad to the back of the carpet and not the floor. Allows to remove the whole section any time you want!

That's a good Ida too, I notice this pad forms really nice and stays in place too,

I don't have the name of it right off hand, it is aluminum foil on both sides

I was slightly obsessed with making my spider quieter last year. This is the best resource I found;

Seems like very good practical advice that may be helpful

i did not glue it, but i did tape it at all the seams so it like one big piece
i laid 2 pieces over the tranny where the shifter is and then i put a piece between the plate and the tunnel and bolted it down

I used spray adhesive when I did mine. Used the same stuff, EzCool. I also tapped all the seams with that aluminum duct tape. It looked nice, but I can't tell ya if it's any better than not gluing it down. Certainly made a big difference in the heat and sound. I got a post on here somewhere when I did it.
