Got my monza resonated tip in today. Had to see what it sounded like so i roughed up the system hanging in place

It is no cat, one center muffler, and the tip
Image

it sounds TERRIBLE. Loud and awful in all the wrong ways. :(

i am going to buy a 12" muffler of some form and weld it between the axle and tip to quiet it down a bit and remove some of the "yuck" from the sound.

its essentially a 2" straight pipe from the header. need something else, lol. I'm trying to decide between something cheap like

or spending for quality

I just did a cat back dual on a 2009 F150 with flowmaster, sounds sweet, fit up nicely, father in-law is now glad I talked him into it.

Getting tired of taking things off the car... and tired of finding rust.

It is important to note here that the rust ALL started on the inside and ate its way out. None started on the underside of the car. Weird eh?

Got the car up on 4 jackstands today. I'm being as safe is is possible around the car, and trying not to get under it. just needed it up off the ground so I could clean rubber undercoat off allowing me to weld in floor patches. Before raising up the car I broke all the lug nuts loose... which was a task requiring my massive several foot long breaker bar. The nuts were on so tight that it would have been impossible to remove them without it. Was talking to juvius about this earlier... might be why my brakes are so messed up. Whoever overtightened the lug nuts might have warped the whole assembly!

Anyway

Some images.

Rust removed and ready for a new panel!

The only parts of the car not rusted!

Got my frong end parts all in... I am seriously thinking about finishing the whole front end. I am tired of taking parts off the car... (i have clear lenses for the turn signals)

side marker taped on. I will be removing the original side marker and welding over the hole.

I am sooo sorry I didn't get back to you before now, have been too busy with other stuff to even work on my own project car! The '79 at the salvage yard doesn't have an engine or taillights, but looks like you have both of those covered.
Here is a photo of the rear quarter. Your cowl area looked almost exactly like the one on my '74, except my car was apparently parked under a pine tree, lots of pine needles and rust!

I feel like you lose some of the detail in a black rim...

To me the silver looks classy while the black looks like it belongs in a high school parking lot. :|

Here is a photo of mine with the wheels that came with it, think they look pretty good, will look better when the car is done and they are cleaned up!

Yea, if i could get my hands on those I'd use them. Unfortunately they don't seem to be terribly prevalent. :(
