Re: Just how old are we, anyway?
I bought my first spider at 46. I am now 49 and wish I would have known about these little jewels back in high school. My dad give me his wore out work car to fix and drive. That 78 Cutlass Supreme had 4 bald tires and a very tired motor. It had no hub caps and was just plain ugly. I rebuilt a rocket 350 and put the 265 heads on hoping to raise compression . I put a set of American Racing wheels with L60's on the rear and all my money went to keeping rear tires on it. I had a monthly payment at the tire store. I see kids now days telling their parents they don't want to drive what they are given because it don't look good. My kids drove what they had or walked. They want to drive my Spider when they are home but I always tell them the same thing, Get your own!

Re: Just how old are we, anyway?
Call it denial if you like but I find it hard to believe how old I actually am . Now fast approaching 60, I've just applied for a 'Seniors Card' which gives freebies and discounts to aging Aussies who've reached their 6th decade of life. Sports cars, however, aren't a recent, nor a flash-in-the-pan interest. My garage has progressively expanded to house my collection which consists of the Morris Cooper S I purchaed as my first car in 1973, the Bugeye Sprite I built up from a couple of trailer loads of parts in 1979, the Fiat 124 AC coupe tarmac rally car we threw together in a hurry in 1989 and my 124 Spider which sailed over from California in 1999. The latest and currently on-going project, is a 1967 Mini Marcos GT, it's currently just a fully restored fibreglass shell with a fresh coat of British Racing Green paint, but the aim is to have it on the road and going by Xmas - if I live that long

Re: Just how old are we, anyway?
This chart may explain why this is one of the more courteous forums out there. My son joined the VW GTI forum and left almost immediately due to a proliferation of twenty-something a@#$%les. He asked a simple question about how long people went between oil changes on synthetic, and got a rash of shit. Age generally mellows us I think. Nothing against our younger members of course! This is overall a great forum filled with good, well mannered people.

My son loves his, goes like hell, really fast. I find the gauges too small for my old eyes, definitely a young man's car.
