I just bought a 34ADF for $169 on ebay...well, $204.99 with shipping... and it's ported for vacuum advance.
What I can't figure out is if the pictures intentionally excluded the Weber and 34ADF stampings or not. I know it is a newer make - because it has philips screws in the aux pump holes. I'm relying somewhat on the honest of an international seller and on ebay's buyer protection policies. Regardless, let's say they are not OEM but a Made-In-Spain Weber (which I've never had an issue with), what a great deal on the 34.
Guess I have to find an 1800 or 2000 to stick it on, since all I seem to have to go under a 34ADF right now is a set of camshafts and a timing belt.

if it doesn't have the W cast into it, probably made in China. I've seen the cheap Webers with a decal W rather than the cast W

I don't trust it - I don't trust much on ebay - but I'm not going to curse the thing yet.MrJD wrote:my instincts say "don't trust it."
Redline Weber has a post on this stuff: http://genuineweber.blogspot.com/ Amusingly it goes into quite a bit of detail on how genuine Webers were Italian, etc., and then starts talking about how they are made in Spain now.

"real Weber" ? Ah, a bunch of Balogna!
Brad, Do you have any experience with a Weber 34 ADSDA? Looks just like a 34 ADF but with no fuel return and provisions for heating the lower throttle section via engine coolant. I'm pretty sure you are familiar with the outfit that is selling it.

Same basic carburetor, different lid and it has some ports in the base that you can see in the photos. I have no idea what they are for except the position indicates they would work off of the drop in manifold pressure since they appear below the throttle plates. You can likely cut them off or plug them (they might interfere on the FIAT manifold).
The no fuel return is easy to compensate for, use a fuel filter with a return pipe, about $6.00 at Auto Zone.
Real Weber it is. I'm an stickler for originality so long as it is practical, but the fact is that we can't find the OEM stuff in serviceable condition any longer, so the next best thing may very well be EMPIs, MIkunis, and Spanish Webers.

I looked it up once, they are provisions to direct engine coolant through the lower throttle plate casting (to prevent carb icing?). My guess would be the Simca Talbot intake manifold does not have a water jacket. I'd suppose you could just cut them off.

Nah, I'll just stick with my Solex 40 PII carbs.

That would make sense. Hey Solex was stock on some 1608s, I have them in a manual somewhere in the stack. Rumor - like most things FIAT - said that Weber had a shortage so FIAT used Solex PII for a while. Same waffle-top manifold. They also used Holley 30DICAs on 850's for a while. Same junky design, different name stamped in it. Solex carbs were good so long as you could find the rebuild kits.
