I'm hoping that some of you experts can chime in here.
My volumex has a fuel filter very similar in size to the oil filter on the end of the crank case ventilation hose. It appears not to be a custom install. Any suggestions on if I should replace with another fuel filter or switch to another air filter?
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Crank case ventlation question
Sounds strange, but if it has worked until now then replace it with an identical unit.

Re: Crank case ventlation question
Breather element - an air filter - catches the excess oil and crud before it gets put back into the carburetor. I can't tell you if is stock, Volumexes being something not common anywhere near these shores.Jimb wrote:I'm hoping that some of you experts can chime in here.

I bought the car from the club member you refer to about 6 years ago or so.

Jim

Re: Crank case ventlation question
Sorry Jimb, that was more like a fortnight for response.
I'm a little confused with your description, here's what I see in my engine bay.
In front of the compressor, there's an oil filter for the compressor. Looks similar to a fuel filter, made of metal. Approx 50mm in dia.
From the crank case on the left hand side (at the oil dipstick) there's a connection up to the intake, before compressor.
On the right hand side, there are coolant hoses.
I'm not on Photobucket & Co, so I've sent you an email with contact data.
Mine is red, nr 295 in the series.

I went into a Club Magazine from 2008, the car was then in Ontario.Jimb wrote:I bought the car from the club member you refer to about 6 years ago or so.

Re: Crank case ventlation question
Meanwhile, a contact with the VX Club confirmed Jim's engine to have a modified ventilation set-up.
Jim's is atmospheric (to the engine bay) through ventilation holes in the "filter".
In original set-up, the ventilation is connected to the inlet.

Re: Crank case ventlation question
Yes, thanks Wiggo.
It looks like an easy fix back to original. All I need to do is find the T-pipe fitting.
Cheers,
Jim
