I have a 1983 pininfarina spider with 45K miles. There is a moderate amount lifter noise when the engine is running. Is this normal? Are there any additives that can be helpful?

They do make noticeable noise when adjusted properly, but if they aren't adjusted properly snake oil won't help. Valves should be checked/adjusted every 15k, so a adjustment may be due.

fiat 124 doesn't have valve lifters, if that's what you are talking about
