radio rant

Post by donm »

Does anyone know where I can get a simple radio/cd player with an auxiliary input? One that has dedicated bass and treble controls and doesn't require scrolling through 3 differnt menues just to adjust the sound? And a simple display panel without colored, flashing text which might look great in a clapped out Honda Civic but not in a 34 year old sports car? The guy at Best Buy says they're all like that these days.

I agree with the guy at best buy, they all look stupid. The stuff made to look vintage looks like crap too.

I found the Blaupunkt radios made in the 80's offer the best chance at being uncluttered and have aux inputs - you may have to create your own plug but most have the input. There is also a series that is from the 70's, with knobs and push buttons and nice sound, that had an input for an optional 8-track player or cassette deck. I think it is the original frankfurt model. I also recall this frankfurt: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blaupunkt-Frank ... 5682262%26 can be adapted.

I used to run a Blaupunk frankfurt with a radio interface for an ipod, worked well enough.

Options from these UK based guys too, plus a pretty good Blaupunkt range.

I went to Radio Shack and bought one with knobs for around $40.00. It has a usb jack and a flash drive slot. No power drain for memory when the car is off. Had to order it, it's a Pyle PLR14MPR.
