...but circumstances have required me to use my spider in the snow and (gulp) salt! :shock: Our Volvo is down right now while I pull the cylinder head so I have had to rely on my spider in the rotten weather here in Ohio. However, you all will be happy to note that it has been starting reliably even on the mornings when it has been -22 F and -23 F. Really, it's been a great car indeed. And this Saturday, I will be able to wash the living daylights (and salt) out of all the nooks and crannies. Hope I haven't rusted too much more of it...

you're braver than i am... i get nervous driving my awd montero sport on these roads sometimes...

The 124 sedan, proud parent of the Spider, was the Checker Taxi of eastern Europe. Some Ladas are probably still doing yeoman duty today. That cabin heater is awesome, isn't it?

I drove mine a while ago, but only fifty feet to free the tractor 8)

I wouldn't be as concerned about rust as I would the small lakes that form on roadways in your part of the country.
