I got some great news the other day. I found out that the mechanic that helped me get my 124 on the road and sorted out years ago is back in NYC! I just visited his new shop in Queens this morning and he is the same great guy I remember.
I know that many Fiat and Alfa owners in NYC will remember the Alfa Import Center and it's owner Guiseppe, or AKA "Alfa Joe". He used to be located in Brooklyn, the location where he sorted out my 124, and then sadly moved to North Carolina. Well, he's back again and in business in Woodside, Queens, and he happens to be right next door to a classic car dealer that specializes in old Fiats, Alfa's and Ferrari's. It's Italian car heaven on that corner! I feel extremely lucky to have him so close by again.
So if any New York Fiat riders are in need of a quality mechanic and a plain nice tifosi, let me know and I'll post his address....
Alfa Joe Is Back!
Re: Alfa Joe Is Back!
Hey Jim,
Nice to have someone nearby you can count on. Good news. I've heard there is a guy in Brooklyn as well. Don't have the info but could get it.
So we have quite an active group here in NJ, but it would be a bit of a trip for you. We are centered around central NJ. The Freehold, Bordentown, Trenton area, the I95 corridor. We are pretty infomal. We have a breakfast every month. Once the weather breaks we'll get anywhere from 8 to 16 Spiders showing up.
Anyway, you'd always be welcome. Here's the website http://www.njfiats.org/

Re: Alfa Joe Is Back!
Yeah, it's always good to have a knowledgable and trustworthy mechanic close by, so I'm feeling pretty good about seeing Joe back.
That looks like a great bunch of Fiats you have in your group. They all look like they're in great shape. Mine looks exactly like the last one pictured, Edies red 79. Yeah, Central NJ is a bit of a ride for me, but you never know, I might be in the mood for a road trip someday! It would be nice to get my Spider out of the city and onto some nice, open roads. I'm looking for a similar group here in the city, but I'm not sure any exists.
Anyway, thanks for the invite!
PS - Ouch, I just read your membership requirements! You guys are to strict for me!
