2014 Barrett Jackson

Post by garion »

Hey guys, I went to Barrett Jackson today and wandered around taking some pics.. They aren't ready yet, but when they are, I'll let you know, and post a link..

There were several Fiats there this year, but no Spiders.. The interesting thing is that I think there's an increase interest of spyder type cars, as there were several Aston Healy Sprites, one even in the 'salon' area.. I saw a couple Sunbeam, MGs and others.. Good news for the value of our cars maybe?

Anyways.. I only took pics of the 'interesting' cars.. Not any of the 900 or so Corvettes, Mustangs and Camaros. There must have been 8 different orange GTO Judge's there.

Here's a teaser pic:

Thank you for sharing all those great pics! I turned the tv on just in time to see the Veyron,300SL,and Auburn go.Some of the cars you labeled as Austin Healy Sprites, are actually Austin Healy 3000's.To me,3000's are one of the best looking classic sports cars ever. Most of the Sprites were MG Midgets with a little different body. The exception is the ''bug-eye'' or ''frog-eye Sprite.Very cool cars, also.

Yeah, you're probably right that those were 3000's.. I don't much about those, so I kinda put them all in the same category.. The greyish-blue one was absolutely amazing in person. It was in the 'salon' area, so yeah, pretty awesome.

If you guys ever get the chance to go, its a field day for car people.. One of these years, I'll try and get to some of the other auctions in town..

At one of the vendors there, they had a 1/24 model of our beloved Fiat Spider.. But they wanted $100 for it.

Here are a few photos of a 1961 Austin Healey I purchased in 1975 fixed it up and put it on the road in 1981. Then sold it to my brother. The car is now my nephew's. The photo's were taken around 2008, my wife and I taking the Healey for a ride.

Not as nice as the one in the auction but still it feels great to drive it and be a part of the car's history. My nephew still owns and cares for the Austin Healey 3000

I am very happy that my brothers family and especially my nephew value the Healey. My wife and I really like our 81 Spider 2000 and it is a more comfortable car for the type of rides we like. In the Healey you got pretty warm on a summer ride.

Around 1982 I was given a 1964 Mustang Convertible with a 260 cu inch V8. The car's frame had rusted where the forward end of the rear spring attached to the frame. The car buckled and the doors would not open. I brought it to a couple body shops at the time and they said it couldn't be fixed. So I junked it. I wish I had tried harder to fix the Mustang. I'm pretty sure it was a really rare car but I didn't know it at the time. I miss the Mustang I never had LOL

There were a handful of 3000s at B-G and only one 100/4.
