Hi all. I screwed up and ruined my radiator drain plug. While working on the cooling system the drain plug seemed to thread a bit rough so I thought I'd run the die over the threads to clean them up. However in my rush I wasn't looking closely at the die and picked up the M8X1.25 (coarse thread) instead of the M8X1.0 (fine thread). I noticed it was cutting more than I was expecting, however with such a short bolt I was done ruining my threads before my brain figured out what I was doing. Below is a picture of the bolt after I ruined it.
Does anyone know where I can get a new radiator drain plug? That of course would be the easiest solution. I have access to a machine shop and am preparing to cut a new bolt on the lathe. Even if you don't know where I can buy a new one, perhaps your car uses the same bolt and for some reason you can take a photo of it and email it to me that would be greatly appreciated. I know it doesn't make sense to drain your coolant just to help me out, however perhaps you have a parts car or are about to flush your coolant anyway, etc.
As you can see there was some kind of bolt shoulder that my die cut into, so I don't know exactly what that looked like for when I machine my new bolt. A picture of a good bolt would really help ensure that it works the same. Also the books show a sealing washer (probably a copper washer to go with the brass bolt), however when I pulled this bolt off there was no washer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's the one for the side of the block, not the bottom of the radiator.coise wrote:here is a link to autoricambi but I´m sure vick´s got some too.

OOOPS! Sorry, my mistake. I just focused on ''drain plug'' and forgot ''radiator''
