I'm considering putting in a Lancia Beta Volumex engine in my spider. Have anyone here done it and have any advice or pictures to share?
I'm aware that I need to change camboxes and distributor and oil pan to make it fit

You may have issues with the gearbox input shaft being too long. The depth of the hole in the end of the crankshaft for the spigot bearing is shallower on the Lancia.

I just purchased a new input shaft from Vickauto which was 1/4" longer than my original. When I spoke to them about it they were not a bit concerned, saying the 1/4" longer shaft is commonly used as a replacement without any issues.131 wrote:You may have issues with the gearbox input shaft being too long. I certainly hope they were right.

If you use it on a crank that doesn't have sufficient depth for the end of the shaft you'll have issues. As in all cases, if in doubt, measure.Jimb wrote:I just purchased a new input shaft from Vickauto which was 1/4" longer than my original. The guy who sold you the part said it's the right part, so it must be the right part...right?
My take on most things FIAT is if they could save a dollar they would have; in this case they have two different length shafts, most likely for good reason.

Measure the shaft. One more thing added to the list.
What about the physical dimesions of the complete engine, will it fit or will I get problems with master brake cylinder, ignition coil or other things on the driver side of the vehicle?
