Overflow Tank Position

Post by Martin124 »

I'm hoping to get some advice about the placement of the radiator overflow tank. I need to reposition it so I can fit some "go faster" stuff under the bonnet/hood.

Does it matter what height the tank is placed? Can it be placed a little lower than stock or should it be at certain level to make it operate correctly? I hope this question makes sense. :D

Shouldn't be an issue, later 131s came out with the bottle beside the radiator, with the end of the hose in the bottle being at a level below halfway down the radiator. The earlier models had the bottle up on the strut tower, I've used both versions in my car without trouble.

generally they are about the same height as the radiator, but I've seen some mounted below the level of the top tank

Martin: if you need more room. This tank takes up very little space. Easy to mount also.

Thanks Tuc124. I saw your earlier post about that tank. Looks really neat too. I'm going to try repositioning the stock tank but if I don't manage it I'll go down your route.
