My amazing fantastic wife gave me a GoPro for Christmas. This evening I stuck it on the top of the windshield on the 77 and took it for a burn. Already ordered an external mic since the sound is horrible. Tomorrow I will relocate it to inside the windshield and see if that is better sound without too much reflection...

They are a good thing but yes an external mic is the way to go, i shot this one morning on the way to work using the vacuum mount down low.

Absorbing footage - watching that wheel following the white line with the suspension moving up and down is mesmerising. Love the sound . Where did you have the microphone positioned?weekend warrior wrote:They are a good thing but yes an external mic is the way to go, i shot this one morning on the way to work using the vacuum mount down low.

I bought a cheapie to trial and put it in the previously unused map pocket, next time it'll be a sunny day with one mic in engine bay and another next to the ansa mufflerCurly wrote:Absorbing footage - watching that wheel following the white line with the suspension moving up and down is mesmerising. Great video warrior!!
I did a little research and understand that a condenser mic is the way to go, and yes, engine bay or near the exhaust for maximum effect.

Re: First spin with the GoPro
GoPros are super cool. I use mine for bike racing. Most I've done w/ the Fiats is to remotely turn it on & film when the bike is on the roof on the way back from a ride. Funny thing was at the beginning of the video I was wondering why you shifted so early! The unsolicited critique is the downside of good mic vs. a music overlay! ....is this supposed to be in another area? I'd love to see a gopro thread. Waaaaaaay back a long time ago I had some great fun with my IDF/header/2" exhaust '74 Spider and a regular video camera mounted to the roll bar...but, alas, I think I've lost that tape (yes, I said tape).

Re: First spin with the GoPro
Ahhhh, Chris, I got my external mic today. Hopefully, tomorrow... I can find less traffic and run it up a bit...
Of course, the other issue is that I am running my first test in the 77 which was rebuilt 20 years ago and the carb was rebuilt by a total lunatic amateur!!! Me! It burps every once in a while and starves under hard braking so I take it relatively easy until it gets another rebuild. Scheduled right after my current project.... So, maybe 2015 sometime...
