New shop is done!

Post by htchevyii »

Finally got started on my new shop! Merry Christmas to me! It is a 42x40 metal building. 12' high walls in the center bay, so I can install a lift. Something like this, but with three garage doors in the front. It wil be so nice to finally have some room and to get organized.

Anyone want to bet when this becomes too small :D Great stuff Trey. Must be excited or like me as I've just bought a bigger yard and shop (with a car hoist :D ) with corresponding mortgage... excited trepidation I'm calling it

Have fun filling it up.

Everybody said that it can never be big enough, so I am building it as large as the building department will allow. My last garage was a one car and he current one isn't much bigger. Can't wait.

Fantastic! Good for you Trey, it sure won't be wasted space.

I too am jealous .... on the farm besides the barn we had a 5 bay garage... sure do miss it .... hoping that now the thread is started it will be used as a platform for updates and pictures as things progress.... do you have a layout of the inside in mind? ..or just a huge space and then fill as needed ..... how will electrical spots be decided (guessing you gotta have 220 in a couple of places) ... any plumbing? ... big screen ... pizza oven ... sniper tower

I assume this is a "pole barn". What's your pole spacing.

I spent five minutes typing and when I went to Photobucket and came back it was gone! That's why the pics are in a separate post. Anyway, the shop is done! Four guys built it in four days, albeit long ones. I still have to get the driveway paved so that I can get the final inspection done. Up until a few years ago, you could build an AG building in my area without permits, so all of my neighbors have Barns that look like garages  That old have saved me over five grand, but they took the exemption away.
The center bay is 18' wide and will be my work area and will eventually accommodate a lift. The sides will be primarily parking, although I may enclose one side for a paint booth. I spent tonight applying a gloss clear sealer to the floor and have been painting all of my shelves and cabinets. I can't bring myself to put a bunch of ugly stuff in my new shop. I will be spending lots of time getting organized.

Very nice! Wish I had the same here to weather through our winters instead of storing it off site.
