My a-arms on the '76 are a hair above 90 degrees from the road. Makes no difference. Due to the unequal length, when the wheel goes up your camber increases. Aligning to compensate for that solves any "unruly" handling characteristics. Regardless I'm not going for "slammed." I just don't want my car to look like it could go slay buggies at the dunes.
