Not sure if anyone has started a thread like this but wanted to get opinions on hard to find parts for our cars. I am getting a 3D printer which would allow me/us to reproduce these parts that are either not produced or nearly impossible to find, or way too expensive.
I have several parts for my 1966 Chevy Sport Van that are impossible to find and if you do find them they are 50 years old and crumbling so not worth the insane prices people ask for these parts.

Re: List of hard to find parts
The louvered vents for the lower console are extremely hard to find and insanely expensive when you do find them.
Plastic grommets for the windshield washers where they go through the cowling
Seat belt guides where the belt goes through the seat back on the 79 and newer cars
Plastic clips to hold the fiber optics under the console

Re: List of hard to find parts
Emblems and the glass wouldnt be of the quality that would be marketable.
Does anyone have one of these vents mentioned?
Example of the clip mentioned?

Don't forget about the little box-shaped linkage parts on the door lock linkage rods. These plastic pieces are always brittle and easily broken.

71 tail lights. I've been thinking of using a 3d printer to make my own, even.

Shock absorbers of the same quality of OEM. They don't exist. Koni used to make some, Koni Reds, the yellows are entirely too harsh. The gas shocks are harsh and make the car ride too high (KYBs). The only thing kind of close, oddly, are Gabriels, which you can get at Auto Zone for $25 each.

@basarabam: I seem to remember (but it has been quite a while) that there were some clips involved with the cowl grills that are made out of unobtanium?

Re: List of hard to find parts
I would need to see example. Not sure what clips you mean. I am willing to give anything a try as long as I have a sample piece I can use to make a model with.

How about that little black latch thingie on the back of the glove box door? the squarish inside is usually rounded out.
