Hello Fellas

How much leg room is there in a 69- 73 Fiat 124? So, I am 6ft 4 inches, if the drivers seat is all the way back, will my knees be hitting the steering wheel? I don't want shifting and braking to be an issue

If so, I might be lookin for one

I am 6ft 1 and I have plenty of space. You can always get a smaller steering wheel. Don't even consider MG or Miata.

I'm 6'4" - had to put a 12" MOMO steering wheel to make room for my knees. The stock wheel on the 124 is quite big!
ABsolutely no problems with the smaller wheel.

I'm 6'-4" have a 71 and the big steering wheel, it drives just fine. Never really thought of getting a smaller one.

keep in mind that the pedals are pretty close together in these cars. if you have big (wide) feet, you could have a problem.

I got size 13s. It's fine as long as I don't wear my timberland work boots

My son is 6'4" too. He only has trouble with the pedals being close together. With the right shoes and a little experience, it's all good. BTW neither he nor my 15 y.o. (now 6'1") could see through the windshield bar of the 15 year old's Miata he bought at 14y.o.

Have a 71, original wheel, 6'4" 238 pounds - fit just fine.

The pedals are too close together I think. Has anybody done a mod to widen the spacing? Would be interested to hear about that.

I just bent the clutch pedal to the left about 1/2 inch and the brake about 1/4 inch. Working for me

My size 13's work OK as long as I don't wear big boots. The problem I had with the stock wheel was that my left knee kept hitting the wheel when I worked the clutch. Also my right knee got in the way when shifting from first to second.
You can see below that with the small wheel there's lots of room for both knees.

I had the same question when buying my Spider and I can say that I (6'4") have no problem fitting in my car, even with the stock steering wheel.

I will echo the issue with the pedals though. I have some old Converse Hightops that I wear when driving which really help since they are such narrow shoes. It does suck too that due to my big feet, I can't heel toe downshift http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4MS5pNGbOU. Trust me a tired

Other suggestion. Remove the sunvisors for added visibility.

I just got my first spider 3 months ago. I'm 6feet 6inches tall, 210 pounds, size 13 feet, big original steering wheel, original pedal positions. Never driven a car that is more fun to drive.

I've driven a couple thousand miles in a variety of urban and rural conditions. My left knee does touch the door and wheel just a bit when shifting, but I've found that shifting my foot position on the clutch pedal alleviates that. I love the look and feel of the big wheel so would rather work around it.
As for room for feet at the pedals, I have it narrowed down to 3 pairs of shoes that work well. Agree with the gents above- big workboots don't work in this environment. You'll find yourself stepping on both the gas and the brake a lot.
I love the idea of bending the clutch and brake pedals left a bit. I may try that.
