Hey all. Just begining work on my 1970 spider.

Is there anyone out there (or know of anyone) in the Southern New Hampshire area that works on or is knowledgable with Fiats? I am a total novice and wouldn't mind a little guidance.

Mike, welcome. Don't know anyone in NH, but if you can identify the tool in the tool box, you can get plenty of help here. Heck even if you don't know what the tool is, we will still try to help. Do you have any questions to start?

Good, bad and ugly news:

The good: I live in Chelmsford, MA about 20 minutes from the border.

The bad: I'm a novice too. Everything I know about cars I've learned on my Fiats!

The ugly: I'm restoring a 74 and have gotten in over my head several times - So far I've proven I can take a car apart. The jury is still out on whether I can put it back together again!

If you're looking for moral support I"m happy to give it. I also have a pretty extenisve library of reference material. If you're looking for expertise you might want to post on this forum! If you're looking for a shop the only one I've used is Danny O'Donnell at Fun Imported Automotive Toys in Vernon CT - about a 2 hour ride from you.

Don't know which side of southern New Hampshire you're on but a friend in Gorham, ME, works on a wide variety of cars, classic and modern, and loves his family Fiat 500. If that would be close enough for you, let me know and I'll share contact information with you.

I also have a friend who has a garage in Hampton, NH, who should be able to help you, too.

Welcome! Most anything you can do yourself with the help of this forum. I just completed a resto on a motorcycle with the help of forums like this and I was a complete novice.
The one suggestion I can make is purchase a dedicated garage digital camera so that it is always available and take TONS of photos whenever you pull something apart.
Also, the way I search is I google "fiat spider . . . (what Im searching)" . Crude but it always turns up what I need here as well as sources at other sites and it is easier than using the search function here (for me anyway.) Good luck.
