floorpan removal

does anybody have pictures of themselves removing a drivers side front floor pan? i was looking mine over trying to figure out how to best make my cuts without damaging the rail underneath and also maintaining the most structural integrity. i have purchased a new floor pan from Wolf.

Steve, here are some of the passenger side. Should be the sam for the drivers side but reversed







I used a flanging tool because of all of the multiple pieces. The pan is also from Wolf. What I found is that it is the floor only and does not take into account the curved surfaces up the foot well or trans tunnel.

holy crap! you had you some rust there! mine is just a small amount around the seat brackets so i am going to try to leave enough meat to weld the wolf pan back in.

question, did you use a die grinder? or were you able to drill the weld marks?

Hi Steve. Yup, lots of rust, from MICE Ended up scrapping the car for the one I have now. I used a grinder with a cut off wheel and a drill with the spot weld remover bit. You will probably find, if you haven't already, that the bottoms of the seat rails are rusted off, and therefore need to make small brackets to be able to weld them back to the floor. I will be doing some small floor replacement in the one I have now, but I am very afraid to take the rockers off. I have a premonition that I will be doing sill replacement at some point. In the mean time I just close my eyes, pretend the drivers door A pillar is fine and drive

Yours looks very doable over a weekend or two depending on your time

I moved down to Georgia from North Providence fifteen years ago. (not a Guido) there are a lot of solid bodies to be had down here. i paid $400 for this one. it came from South Carolina. the only rot was that little bit around the seat rail and a few tiny paint bubbles. it actually had just the factory paint on it and not multiple complimentary additional paint jobs! my rails under the sill covers were still like the day it rolled out of the factory! i was floored! (no pun intended)

the rugs were still in it and in great shape. just faded. i plan on taking a wire brush to them to fluff them a little and spray them with a tan dye. they should come out looking like new! wicked pissah!

Awesome. Whatever prompted you to move to the land of red clay? I lived in Warwick most of my teens until I enlisted in the Navy. Finally settled on the East Bay next to my wife's folks. Been here ever since - going on 30 years.

THE BLIZZARD OF 78 pretty much set the wheels in motion for me. i just got so sick of shoveling snow only to come back out an hour later and find the city snow plow ha placed an ice hard berm across your driveway! i live in north Georgia just outside of Chattanooga,TN and love it! the landscape is a lot like Rhode Island but barely a month of what you would call "good football weather" then its spring again! today's gas price is $2.99 a gallon. if you smoke, cigarettes are $3.35 a pack. but on the down side there is no good Seafood, roast beef sangwitches, cold pizza, or real Italian bread! i would give my left arm to be sitting on the deck of Georges of Galilee eating chowda and popping clamcakes!
