Gildo has retired

I live in Washington, D.C. And for the last number of years I've been taking my Fiat spider to Gildo at the his garage in Riverdale Md. I just called to make an appointment for my car and found out that Gildo has retired and sold his garage and all the fiats ythat use to be around are gone. Now I feel lost. Can anyone tell me where u can get my 1978 fiat spider serviced where they know what they are doing ? I wish Gildo all the best on his retirement but I'm sure going to miss his expertise.

I don't know how far you are willing to travel but have you ever heard/tried DiFatta Bros. In Baltimore? I've used them in the past with success when I was unable to do something myself do to time or tool constraints... Just make sure you have Paul doing the work. He's very honest and does great work and has been working on Fiats for 30 years. There's nothing he can't do or hasn't seen before.

Thanks guys for your help. For something simple like a oil change and filter would someplace like Jiffy lube be able to handle it?

Of course they can handle something as simple as an oil change... The Fiat Spider isn't really any different then any other car in that aspect. If you don't trust someone like that to do it, then do it yourself. It's so easy... If you do decide to go to a quick lube place I would confirm with them before hand that they will have the proper oil filter or better yet take one with you that you prefer to be safe.

One of the great things about Guildo (and every other dedicated mechanic), is that he'd always poke around under the entire car while doing something as simple as an oil change. Didn't matter if it was a Spider or a new car. +1 with Holshot; change the oil yourself ... you don't even need a jack. But take your Spider to DiFatta or London once in a while for a competent once-over.
