right cambox gasket fractured each 700 miles
right cambox gasket fractured each 700 miles
I have a Fiat spider 2000 (fI) 1981 with a rebuilt engine at 94,000 miles. After 700 miles, I have a problem with the right cambox gasket wich link with the head of the engine. An oil leak appear and the mechanics found that the gasket was fractured at the jonction of the oil supply. The mechanics changed the gasket but after another 700 miles, the same trouble reappeared. He checked alls specs on the camshaft housing and de top of engine and nothing seems defected. Anyone can help? (excuse my english, it is not my language)

How much oil pressure is there? I have seen some Spiders where it was unusually high. Normally it never goes over 5 bar (~65psi).
This is a gasket between two flat surfaces, so if the surfaces are flat, the bolts are tightened evenly and the gasket is good it should not fail. There are gaskets available with a silicone bead impregnated into them. If you are in Europe you can get them from Guy Croft in the UK.
