The "where does this go" thread

Post by bran100 »

Now that I'm about to start putting my '82 2 liter FI back together, I'm sure I'll end up with lots of spare parts, so here we go...

How about this one? I surely can't remember where I pulled it from.

Hope you haven't put your engine back together...I believe that bolts onto the bottom/inside the block...think it was bolted to the bottom of the dipstick hole..not sure though been a while.

it goes into the bottom of the vapor separator. it bolts in to the side of the block and the tip sits next to the oil pump pickup. if you need pictures let me know

I too hope the motor is still on the stand.
If your motor is upside down it goes right next (behind) to the oil pump on the drivers side. There is a hole down in the block where the long end goes in. the short end is facing to the oil pump. Then two, I believe 8mm bolts attache it to the block.

I'm just finishing up blasting and starting to paint parts. I was thinking it went somewhere in that area. Only asking at this point so I don't paint it.

Thanks guys

I'm down to two wires with no home. Can anyone help with where they go on an 82 FI?

This one is short, coming out from the firewall, and according to my pictures doesn't attach to the coil. I don't think it's even long enough.

This one is long, grounded right by the coil

Lastly, where does the distributor vacuum hose plug into on the other end?

I think on your car the disty vac hose runs over to just under the throttle body, firewall side. Right near the wound up throttle spring. You should see a fitting protruding over there.

guessing the short one might be o2 sensor .... the long one on mine attaches to the spark plug wire holder on top of passenger cam cover... looks to be a ground for the cam cover for whatever reason

The long ground wire goes to the cam end cover with the three bolts.
