New paint, which red should I get?

I don't want a clear coat and I want it to look like an original 70's paint job.

VW had a Tornado red which seems to have the right look but I'm kinda color blind.

It's for a 1974 124 Spider. All advice is appreciated.

Find the vehicle color you like, write down the make, model and year (and VIN if you can get it), and take it to the body shop. They can match the color if it is a factory red.

I found the 2000 and newer Dodge pickup red to be an excellent choice for a Spider. I wanted something slightly more vivid and ended up with Dupont Flame Red. I loved it.

I used Porsche's guard's red on my car. When at a car show a couple of years ago, the Fiat next to me was painted in the Ferrari cosso rosso? red The Guard's red was pointed out to me as having a touch of orange in it. The Ferrari red was deeper.
Another is the BMW's lamilo? red or I've seen a deep red on Volvo's as well.

x 2 on finding a car with the color you like.... my buddy even put a note on a car before saying love the color and would like to know more... left his number and the guy called him with all the info ... really got to see it on a car to "know for sure" what it will look like... and NEVER trust a picture on the computer to look like what the end result will be... if you find a company ask them to mail you a color chip chart.... hard to tell what it will look like on the car with such a small chip ..but you will have a better representation of the actual color you may be buying ....going thru all of this now with a "blue" for another project ... hope your color ends up with a cool name also... always a bonus when you can tell people a cool color name LOL

I went to the fiat dealer and looked at the new 500 colors. they had a single stage Russo red that didn't have any of the glitter in the paint and looked awesome. it had very little orange tint in it. it was very close to the Ferrari America red. for some reason the candy apple paint doesn't look right on the older fiats, just a base coat red, high gloss looks the best. just my opinion.
