No spark to the coil

Post by Dardy123 »

I was driving my 76 124 and it just died. Battery still charged, turns over but there is no juice to the coil. Can anyone let me know what it could be or where to start looking.

I think the wire that feeds +12V to the coil comes directly from the ignition switch. You may have a failing switch. It is NOT fused.

Gonna have to give more detail. Did you actually check the + side of coil with a test light or voltmeter??

Checked WHAT with a test light?? Which wire(s) under what conditions? Need to be detailed here. Your title says "No spark to coil" (spark doesn't GO to coil, spark comes FROM coil) and your post says "no juice to coil". Everybody loves to change their coils, but they almost never fail.

Ok I am new to the automotive repair. Took a wire directly from the positive battery post and the car started, took the wire off it died, this what I meant by no spark to the coil. Should have said no power to the coil. Does this sound like a ignition problem

The first thing that comes to mind is your ignition switch. Also look at all the connections between the ignition switch and the coil.
