1985 Fiat. Fuel injected or carburetor

Post by etopgun »

Hi,
This is my first post, I hope I did it correctly.

http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/4025798482.html

can anyone tell me if this engine is Fuel injected or carburetor? The seller indicated that he thought the engine was a
little noise due to the fact that it was carburetor. I thought all 1985s were fuel injected?

thanks

Top Gun,

It's FI and you can see it in the picture and yes no carbs after 1980.

Seller is motivated? $10K? The windows don't go up or down, there's rust on the body and it's an auto trans.

He's delusional.

the auto trans does make it more rare, but also lowers demand for it considerably. I'd offer him about 2k for it and see if he's really motivated like he posted. $10k is way above what it's worth as I'm sure he will discover when it doesn't sell. There is an 85 auto on Copart in Toronto that hasn't sold even though it's been featured in 5 consecutive auctions. The bids have all stalled at about $2k, and he has a buy it now price of $15k

Mark is right. Not a bad looking car for $2000-$2500. The autos are a bit rare. The reason they are rare is that nobody wanted them. They were buying a sports car not a daily commuter.
That being said the auto trans in the 1985 is a Chevy Chevette transmission. Remember those? I had 1982 Fiat that I restored for the wife. She decided that she had no use for it and I sold it to another club member. Mistake on my part. Nice little car but it falls way short of the manual transmission in performance and the fun factor.
Exit 98 drove mine and said it wasn't bad for what it was. He's right. It's not bad for what it is, but it's an auto in a FIATspider.
Look for a stick. Learn to drive it and you'll have a big smile on your face.

Hey Chris, how are ya?
I just took the volumex for a spin over to Abbotsford on Sunday. Beautiful top-down drive. We went to pick up a car for my wife.
One day we'll have to arrange a get together drive up your neck of the woods.
