intake manifold mystery port?

I removed my 32ADF carburetor from my '78 spider in order to clean it up and refresh the gaskets, and once it was off I saw this vacuum-port looking thing sticking up out of the manifold. (Haven't had the car that long, so I never noticed it before.) There are no hoses attached to it, and I can't find a diagram of the intake manifold in the manual I have. Can anyone tell me what this is for, and whether I should a) connect it up to something, or b) seal it up so there's not a vacuum leak?

Ah, nevermind, I see that someone else had the same question (http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=24499) and it's already answered -- thermovalve for the EGR system. You folks are the best.
