Distributor re-install
I'm putting the distributor back into the camshaft tower. Does it have to go in a certain way. It fits in fine but I think it makes sense that the cam has to be in a certain position when I insert the distributor. Or do I just ensure it meshes with the cam and then I move the distributor cap once I get the timing belt installed and adjusted?

Re: Distributor re-install
You want the cam wheels on the marks. Than insert the dizzy with the rotor contact pointing to the front, maybe a bit to the left side of the car so it is on the fourth cylinder in the cap.
On this way the plug wires will point to the drivers side.

Thanks. Installed now. There was a line and what looks like a #4 on the outside of the metal part of the distributor to indicate where the 4th contact was so it was easy.
I found it kind of weird how the hold down bracket for the distributor didn't sit flush on the camshaft cover. I kind of sits up even after bolted tight but I saw other similar brackets (down near the alternator) which sit the same way. So I think it's ok.

Re: Distributor re-install
No problem Richard, I did mine yesterday so it was easy to remember. My motor and transmission are going in tomorrow and I hope I have it all ready for the first run on Wednesday.
The hold down bracket for my distributor looks just like yours so it must be normal.
