Where do you have your fire extinguisher?
Where do you have your fire extinguisher?
Hi Just wondering where you have your fire extinguisher?
I bought one from wally*mart for about $25.00 now just wondering where would be the best place for it. Trunk? cab? passenger side? I am not sure where would be the best location. Where do you have yours and do you have any snazzy brackets to afix it somewhere?

That is quite possibly the most helpful post I have ever encountered. Please could you possibly also advise where your spare tire is. lolORFORD2004 wrote:At home.

mine sits on the passenger side left side of foot well.... my dandy brackets are velcro straps ... 2 of them and held in place by a self tapping screw and small washer... that way i can toss the extinguisher in back (same set up in trunk) and not have a bracket bothering passenger ...

Velcro sounds a good flexible setup.81SPIDERMATT wrote:mine sits on the passenger side left side of foot well.... my dandy brackets are velcro straps ... 2 of them and held in place by a self tapping screw and small washer... that way i can toss the extinguisher in back (same set up in trunk) and not have a bracket bothering passenger ...

Rolling around in the footwell behind the drivers side. I really should velcro it to the carpet.

I have a MaxOut MX100 extinguisher horizontally mounted under the dash on the passenger side of my '82 Spider. The hole patterns in the bracket match the position of the 2 screws that hold the Spider's relay plate. It was a simple "bolt-in" installation for me. It looks great and is within easy reach. Passengers say there is no interference with knees or leg room.
I went with this particular brand / model because it's dry chem, the size is just about perfect (in my opinion), it's rechargeable, and I didn't have to make any new holes to mount it.

If you have a roll bar that seem like it would be a great place to mount a fire extinguisher. I'm one of those that has it behind the drivers seat when I'm going down the highway and then I have it in the trunk during a show

When I get the roll bar installed thats exactly where I was considering putting it.TX82FIAT wrote:If you have a roll bar that seem like it would be a great place to mount a fire extinguisher. I saw on fleaBay that they have a few velcro holders for roll bars.
Can't wait to get the rollbar in. Wife loves the idea of an open top but in practice didnt like it quite as much as I did. Feels too low, and too fast. roll bar will be purely to help with the feeling of added safety.

roll bar would be the best spot i think.... but now with a bar you can really drive crazy.... had a friend visit for 2 weeks and he never got use to that "low and fast feel" . swore he was gonna die when we took her out.. but i drive angry .... hope the bar makes it better for your wife... always better if they are on board

I agree, We got the car for weekends away, just the two of us. Would be much better if she was there LOL.81SPIDERMATT wrote:roll bar would be the best spot i think.... but now with a bar you can really drive crazy.... had a friend visit for 2 weeks and he never got use to that "low and fast feel" . swore he was gonna die when we took her out.. but i drive angry .... hope the bar makes it better for your wife... always better if they are on board
Sadly its a busy season and those that can build the rollbar. They are busy around here with blueberries. So I need to be patient. She is getting better now. She no loner grips the seat till her knuckles go white, with her eyes closed. Now her eyes are only half closed, kinda squinting. little steps I know, but I am counting them. lol

Re: Where do you have your fire extinguisher?
I love the way this forum works. We start off talking about fire extinguishers morphing into roll bars and white knuckled wives. My wife is one hell of as driver. In fact, she tought me some manual gear box heel toe driving during our college days. Nothing hotter than a young lady that can drive. Now some years later........... she holds the door handle and scolds me during an aggressive drive. Before we take off she gives me the silent look as if she were saying "take it easy, you scare me, we have three kids, this is a 30+ year old FIAT you are pushing."
Neither the wife or the FIAT are young ladies anymore. But they are both ladies I love to push a little because the rewards justify the effort.
Err.. Um.. Right, fire Extinguishers.
