Just a question out of curiosity... what would happen if you were to put holes into the exhaust pipe before the muffler?
Would it do damage? No doubt it would be extremely loud...

Pretty loud alright. But other than that, you'd most likely get exhaust gasses pulled into the passenger cabin. If past experience is any indicator.

I realize it was a seemingly rediculous question but I was wonder more about a loss of backpessure and maybe a causing of backfiringTVST*R wrote:Okay...what would happen if like I put little dabs of super sticky glue every 6 inches on my steering wheel? Would

Two things, (1) back in the day we used to put glasspacks on, practically zero backpressure, practically zero sound supression. (2) the Spiders I've seen with a modified exhaust system all seem to have backfiring during compression-deacceleration. And (3) (I know I said two, but hey, I'm on a roll here) I don't know how much those of us who have to pass smog testing can get away with.

I'm not sure we have any either, outside of the LA basin. But it's another way for the state to make money.
I did a stint working at UCLA, and one of my buildings was atmospheric sciences, they had a sign on the door of thier main lab: "Smuck Fog". Cracked me up.
