Is this Hook on Backwards ?

Keeping it sharp - paint, wax, detailing, etc.

Is this Hook on Backwards ?

Post by adrians »

Hi,

I'm finally getting around to putting the new boot cover on. I've glued the hardware ( the curved metal parts with the 'D' ) in place.

However it doesn't appear to hook on correctly !

I've look back through other postings and a picture of 'Curly's' car. From his picture it looks like the hooks face backwards,

On my car the hooks face forwards towards the backseat.

Can anyone tell me which is correct !

Also I found this on the rear seat after the kids had been in the car, it looks like it's come from the roof .... But I don't know where it belongs !

On my car the hook is mounted opposite to yours.

yup.... you got it backwards. the open side of the hook should be toward the back bumper.

i do not recognize that black plastic part.

Thanks,

I'll go reverse the hooks - the PO must of never owned a boot cover !

The black bit must of come from the roof - somewhere ?

Yes, just checked the interior of my top - it's one of the covers of the rear bow , I have them installed. One of the rare not-exactly needed parts on our cars :-)

That depends . . . whether you want the boot to cover the trunk lid or the convertible top! ;>)

That's too funny! Reminds me of the CA license plate that I've seen around town that says 'BLONDE' , and it is installed upside down! Very clever.

Looks like you did a nice job with getting the 'D' loops installed on the boot.

That black plastic sleve covers the battery positive cable. If you lift up the back seat cushion you will see the green battery cable, it should have a black plastic sheath along the entire length while under the seat. As the cable is routed it passes over a horizontal pillar behind the drivers seat and then goes along the rocker panel.

That sleve covers the cable as it exits from under the rear seat to protect against abrasion.
