Spark Plug Wire: 81 FI

Post by NSFIAT »

Hi everyone - I did some quick research within the forums on spark plugs and ended up picking up some Champions. I have no idea how old the spark plug wires are, but I'd like to replace those as well. If possible, I'd love to source them locally rather than online. Is there a specific size / length / brand that I should be looking for? I've tried some local outlets (CarQuest, NAPA, etc) but all of their suppliers are out of stock (based on what their database indicates an 81 FI would need) - can I substitute something else seeing as how the wires appear pretty basic?

Might have answered my own question - the labels have been pretty much rubbed off but If I put them all together I get "Bosch 7mm Opti-layer Mag Core Ultra Premium". Does that sound about right?

Yes, those sound about right. Bosh wires 7MM, 500 ohm/ft. Call around as the local parts suppliers should all have them in stock. Don't go crazy buying the best wires on the market. There is a lot of snake oil spark plug wire sales and i don't think our cars need them. Autozone has the duralast brand for our cars around $15/$16 in stock. I think you could actually order a set of BOSH wires on line for about that price is you can wait a couple days.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!
