Baby's Got New Shoes

Finally got the CD3's I've longed for for years. Just like the one's on the 72 I bought brand new back in the day.

Restored to perfection by John Erskine. Here are some before and afters:

But I got a surprise bonus from this swap. Although there were almost new Falken FK07U 185 70 13's mounted on the old wheels I decided to get new tires for the CD3's, this way I could switch out in the winter if I want to, and if I ever decide to sell the Spider I could sell the CD3's separately.

So I got the recently noted Bridgestone Potenza's in the same size. What a difference. The steering which has always been too heavy even after replacing the idler and finally getting oil in the steering box, is at least 30% lighter. And the turn in is so sharp its like driving a different car.

It is amazing what a difference a set of tires makes. The Falken's were a big step up from what was on the car. But these Bridgestones, wow. No more wrestling with the wheel to get around a 90 degree turn anymore. Its like power steering.

Very nice !!
The interesting thing about your car is that it looks fantastic with either set of wheels/tires on it.
That's pretty cool.
Just a beautiful car.
