It never once occurred to me to try to trade it in. What dealer would take it? I would think they'd be speechless with laughter if I asked.
Really? are you serious?
do I have a chance of selling? (not an ad)

Maybe a Fiat dealer would take it... or maybe not.janeiac wrote:It never once occurred to me to try to trade it in. What dealer would take it? I would think they'd be speechless with laughter if I asked.

It wouldn't be bad if I could get that price, but Boston costs a lot more than other places. I rented a car two weeks ago that wound up being over $100 for 24 hours, and it was just a cheapie compact Hyundai.spidernut wrote:...
A coworker goes onto Priceline.com and rents a different car every month - he averages $300 per month including insurance, free towing, free mechanical breakdown, etc. Not a bad way to go if you want to bide some time!!!!
I think I lined up a replacement Jeep. Meanwhile I figured I'd drive the Fiat. The weather is fine, and this may be the last summer I have it. Something bad happenned yesterday. I don't know what-- it wouldn't catch , or it caught and quit (starter turned fine) and was belching white smoke. I'm wigging that it might be a blown head gasket. I smelled burnt coolant. My mechanic has it now. I either have to change his name to Tony or call my car Fiab. I just had the carb rebuilt, starter rebuilt and a new battery and a few other tweaks done a week ago for $1200. Fix It Again, Benny! ARGHGHGH.

Trading a vehicle in at a dealership is a sucker's game anyway. All they do is give you "Black Book" value and are less flexible on the sales price of the car you're buying. I'm sure that they'd find a way to rip you off trading in a Spider.
Try selling it on Ebay and put your reserve price high enough that you won't get burned, but low enough that it will sell. The worst that will happen is that you'll be out a few bucks for the listing. Living on the Leftist Coast, it is still summer here with months of warm weather ahead.
Suggestion: max out the free pictures E-bay permits then post links to your photos in the comments section (Flickr, Photobucket, etc.). The more photos the better. Buying a car online is a scary thing so people want lots of photos. A link to a video of it running, revving and driving wouldn't hurt either.
