Shock Tower replacement

Post by chico »

Anyone have a detailed repair of how to replace the shock towers? Also does anyone have a used pair from a parts car that they would want to part with? :) Found out yesterday that the front end inspection does not look promising with the amount of rust in the shock towers so before doing any front end work I've decided to overhaul the complete front end starting with the shock towers than moving across to the a-arms steering linkage and so on. Thanks let me know Rob

united parcel service or united states parcel service? i prefer to have my parcels sent to the usa to avoid brokerage fees so let me know the cost of shipping. My Canadian postal code is R6M 1L9 and if i get it sent to the USA I use zip code 58282 walhalla ND. Just making sure, you are selling both the drivers and passenger side shock towers? what happened? You sell the car before the fix? Thanks again

I will organise a quote. I have both sides up for sale. I ended up purchasing the entire inner guards (see below) including the rails

These were a lot more expensive...My chassis rails (top and bottom) were extensively damaged... This will save me a lot of time with no fabrication.

The new shock towers up for sale were before the above became available... No need for them now.

You can see updates on the car resto on my other thread

I too am looking for a shock tower repair solution. Mine have some holes but I have seen worse. Can new metal reinforcement be welded in? Are there shock tower replacements available? Mine is a 71. Thanks for any ideas or leads.

http://www.autoricambi.us/product/RE9-4 ... iver-Side/ Autoricambi sells replacements. I have not done mine yet still too scared to see what they actually look like, cause I'll have to grind away the rock guard around the tower that the PO had done.

Thanks Chico,

I saw similar athttp://www.international-auto.com/front ... -panel.cfm but they say the part is not available for the 71. Any idea what would make the 71 different?
