Spindle nut vs. broken punch

Post by KidDingo »

So, this is what it looks like when you break your punch while trying to uncrimp (decrimp?) the spindle nut.

It's one of those moments that makes your heart sink and your project's best-case end-date push further down the calendar.

Thank God for my Dremel!

Not a problem if you have a long enough breaker bar :-)

There is no need to de-crimp or un-crimp. Just spin the nut off and replace with new or add a washer to move the crimp location.

PS. that reminds me, i need to order the clamp style nuts for my car. http://www.cbperformance.com/ProductDet ... tCode=6238

Brilliant! Was just following the Brooklands but will now tackle the driver's side with the breaker bar.
