Remote adjustable mirror...sort of.

Post by JConnerly »

It's likely that only an owner of one of these delightfully quirky little Italian cars would find this funny. I found myself laughing hysterically this morning as I was driving to work attempting to adjust my outside rear view mirror with the remote adjustment control. First of all why did the Italian designers find it necessary on a car that would be driven most of the time with top down, making adjustment of the mirror easier by hand, to put an adjustment lever in such an awkward position? Second, why make an adjustment mechanism that moves the mirror in a seemingly completely random direction no matter which way you move the lever? It's one of the many mysteries of Italian cars.

God love 'em! And when you take the cable/claw mechanism apart and look at the inside and see how it actually works, you will be even more impressed! on my 80FI, Mine was missing, so I put in a used replacement and am happy with getting it back to stock, even though it only adjusts in the wrong direction to help me see. So I set the glass by hand and leave the adjustment knob alone!

why do they need a remote Adjustment mirror on a car that you can adjust both mirrors by hand from the drivers seat along with being able to check the tire pressure in all four tires, tap the head lights when they blink out, and also put fuel in and get something out of the trunk all from the drivers seat. (you might have to release your seat belt to do it though) LOL
