Csaba,
Bad Volvo S70? I just traded one in on a Volvo C30 for my daughter. Had 190,000 plus miles on it. Still runs like a top. My other daughter drives an S70 that has about 132,000 miles on it and loves it. She just informed me when she's ready for a new car she wants another volvo. Both are 2000 S70's. My wife and I drive S80's. Highly recomend Volvo's. Never had any issues. Sorry your was bad.

Mine had a lot of problems that I would call 'inexcusable' for a quality car (like leaking fuel from the fuel tank, power door locks breaking constantly, door panels falling apart, tranny refusing to shift because of a dirty sensor, impossible to find vacuum leaks, etc etc), and every time something would happen and I asked about it on the Volvo forums, the answer was 'oh yeah, they do that'. Supposedly the 1999-2000 was even worse with their 'improved' ignition systems'.
I had a 1993 Volvo 940 Turbo before the V70, that was a great car, I still regret selling it.

Rey,any thoughts on a early Miata? Great gas mileage, bulletproof motors, extremely cheap to buy ,and a hoot to drive.

O K, here's where I'm at. My brother in law bought a car a while ago for 400 bucks. He gave up on it a long time ago and said that I can have the motor. It heats up after running for a while. but that shouldn't be to hard to track down. Nice body, crappy int. I'm gonna start tinkering with it. Once running Id like to convert it to fuel injection for better reliability, and drop an auto trans into it. Ill be needing a cheap parts car to make that possible though. Ive been thinking, and this might be to much. The auto trans is from a chevette, there might be an updated version of that trans thats a 4 speed and not a 3 speed. I wonder if such a thing exists, could it be stuffed in there instead/

Find a mid 90's Honda Civic with 50K to 150K. Bought a civic for a few hundred and put over a hundred thousand miles on it before selling for a few hundred. Good MPG, available parts, reliable, cheap.

Problem solved cheaply. A friend bought this new and put 164,000 miles on it. She just got a new car so I scooped this up for $1,250.00. Automatic trans. One dent on pass door, needs new visors and some ac. Car is surprisingly slow, so Ill tune it up and check everything before I start useing it.

good price, but ac is expensive to fix in those cars. They're prone to compressor failures

Mark, I will be tryin to do this real cheap. Maybe get the ac from someone who took it off their car or wrecked their car. I dont think it has ac to start with. Picked it up last night, havent really looked closely at it. She told me it idled real rough when warmed up, and that her mechanic told her it needed plugs.
