Is there a way from to determine the commemorative number from the vin number, the plaque and badges are missing
and is there a registry for these limited editions?

from what I have read on different sites there is no correlation of Vin to actual car #. I own 1981 car #277. There is a European site that has quite a list of 81 LE's but I don't remember the name of the site. Maybe someone could post the link.

Hi there,
the website with the spider registry is still alive under: http://www.fiatspider.de
But after the last relaunch we got problems to find the right JOOMLA module for the registry. The Webadmins are still testing!
So I am still collecting offline with actual 7556 worldwide spiders! Limited Editions models from 1981 are actually listed with 215 cars! The VIN range starts with approx. 177000 (mfg date 06/80, short VIN form) and ends at ZFAAS00B4B8179994 (model year 81). The VIN numbers are NOT chronological, with gaps and given at random! This must be typical italian Bureaucracy!
Ciao,
Ralf
PS: The last upload as a PDF-file from 04/2013 can be found here with some statistic files:

LE models on pages 63-66
