Just a fun little car!

Post by wizard124 »

I had a few errands to do today...Jumped in the spider to do some running around. :D :D

I haven't done all that I want to do to clean it up. It starts right up and is running great...still need to replace the timing belt, change out the radiator hoses, left rear caliper is leaking. 4th gear still grinds......if I take the shift real slowly and not too high on the revs, the shift does better.

The interior, well,, lots to do there also.

The paint? Yes, that is also on the to do list. I'll hook up the wipers when that is finished....

There is something about these cars, that despite their current state of condition, when they are on the road, succeed in putting a smile on your face and all the traffic, signals, and drivers' inattention just don't seem to matter too much. :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

I am not telling you to not fix the 4th gear, but until you get to it I would just not use it and just go from 3rd to 5th as there is not a big difference from 4th to 5th. Just remember that if it has a problem the longer you drive it the bigger the bill when you do get around to fixing it.

I frequently skip 4th gear. Not because there are problems but because the 4th-5th ratios are so close I save on 20% of clutch wear when getting on the boulevards and highways.
