Coming Back Stateside

Post by red107 »

Happy 4th of July from the Island of Okinawa. Well folks after 3 years of living on the island of Okinawa we have received orders. We are headed back stateside June 2014. We will be stationed on Camp Lejeune North Carolina. I look forward to meeting the Fiat families in North Carolina. My fiat is currently in storage in Jacksonville Florida. I have to arrange to get her shipped along with my jeep wrangler up to NC. So North Carolina Fiats look for me and my spider in the summer of 2014.

You'll finally get to say sayonara to the beautiful island of Okinawa! I still miss that island. It is so pretty and the people are so awesome.

Don't forget to raid the Camp Foster's Auto Hobby Shop's wrecking yard before you leave. That's where I got my new (2 month old Blaupunkt) speakers for $10, the Nissan cupholder I installed in my dash for about $2, some courtesy lights that I never installed and a bunch of other small stuff that I got just for fun.

Welcome back to the States but get your fill of Japanese cuisine (curry, yakisoba, yakitori, yakiniku, etc.) - it just doesn't taste the same back here at home.

Martin, it will be 3 years 8 months when it all done. We don't actually leave here until next June. But who counting? Well I am of course. Going with out my fiat has been routine over the years. I have done three overseas tours not to mention the numerous deployments. Moving to NC next year is the last tour. John I have raided Camp Foster junk yard a number of times to keep my two cars running. I will miss the amazing food here. But I really miss home.
