Oil pressure sensor mounting positions

Post by sdebaker »

1977 U.S. Spider

The mounting points of the gauge sensor and low-pressure-warning-light sensor on my car are the reverse of the ones shown on page 24 of my owner's manual. Is this significant? From the structure of the housing, it looks like these devices pick up oil pressure from slightly different points in the flow path. However, I have seen other illustrations in manuals with the same mounting points as on my engine.

I ask in this context: the oil-pressure-warning light comes on when the gauge shows about 20 psi (rough extrapolation of the scale).

What is the correct positioning?

i would further extrapolate that the light sender is what causes the illumination at about 20 psi, rather than the positioning of it. i was able to purchase a sender that grounds (illuminates the warning light) at about 20 psi for an old austin i own.
if you can't be an example, be a warning.
