because when you change the hight of rear end you need to adjust the panhard rod.
install shorter, longer, stiffer, any other than factory installed springs and whole rear axle will move to one side or the other compared to body of the car.
spider i'm currently restoring has been tru many hands and has been repaired many times and not by professionals so god only knows what springs are on the car now.
also, in order to achieve best stability, panhard rod needs to be as close to horizontal as possible, which is different to factory setup. getting it there will also require adjustability

Late 1978 to 1985 used a shorter bar that also had an S-curve in it.

I have the 78 late model 124, the year of the pan-hard rod change. I have the pan-hard rod with the curve in it. This year they also changed the speedo cable. The difference went from a thread on to a snap on, or vice versa, I can't remember. Were the changes of the pan-hard rod and the speedo cable done at the same time? If I have the curved pan-hard, am I sure to have the updated speedo cable? And which is it, thread or snap on?
